We all have gone partying. We all want to feel the rush, the freedom and the boost in mood and energy while going out. But what is the first thing you think about when talking about partying? Yes, alcohol and drugs. While they may provide a temporary boost in mood and energy, they have side effects that can be severe. Hangovers, addiction, and long-term health problems are just a few of the issues that can arise from relying on these substances to have a good time.

But, we still want to party and have fun. Let me tell you there are some natural and healthy alternatives to have fun without resorting to unhealthy substances.

Healthy Party Stack Alternatives

One great option is to go after plant-based compounds, which have been shown to have mood-boosting and energizing effects. For example, Matcha Green Tea which is high L-Theanine, an amino acid that can improve mood and cognitive function. Similarly, cocoa is extremely rich in antioxidants and has been shown to improve mood and reduce stress.

Below is a list of various foods and compounds that could just do the trick:

  • L-Dopa is a precursor to the neurotransmitter dopamine, and it has been shown to have a mood-boosting effect. It is often used as a treatment for conditions like Parkinson’s disease and depression, despite some concerns about its homocysteine-increasing effects in the body (Paul R, et al, 2016)

  • Brahmi: Also known as Bacopa monnieri, brahmi is a plant that has been used in traditional medicine for centuries to improve mood and cognitive function. It is thought to work by increasing the production of neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine (Dubey T, et al, 2019)
  • Guarana is a plant native to South America that is high in caffeine and has been shown to improve mood and cognitive function. It is often used as a natural alternative to caffeine (Hack B, et al, 2023)
  • Yerba mate is a plant native to South America that is high in caffeine and has been shown to improve mood and cognitive function. It is also often used as a natural alternative to coffee (Lutomski P, et al, 2020).

But wait, there’s more

These plant-based compounds are not the only option though. There are also plenty of natural and healthy foods, drinks and supplements that can help you have a good time without the negative consequences of more ‘classical’ party substances. Here are a few combinations to try:

  1. Water and electrolytes: Dehydration can cause fatigue and irritability, so make sure you stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water. You can also add electrolytes to your water for a boost in energy and hydration

  3. Antioxidant-rich foods: Fruits and vegetables high in antioxidants can help improve mood and protect against the negative effects of alcohol. Try snacking on berries, leafy greens, and citrus fruits.
  4. Herbal teas: Herbal teas like chamomile and valerian root can help relax the mind and body, making them a great alternative to alcohol. However, these are better to be consumed towards the end of your party time, as they may be too relaxing for your desired energy levels

By choosing natural and healthy alternatives, you can have a fun and safe party experience without sacrificing your health. So next time you are planning a night out, consider skipping the drugs and alcohol and opt for one of these safe party stacks instead!
